Game mechanics

In the Statera you will play as one of the nations of Statera or their God. The game is double-asymmetric. The first asymmetry comes from the difference between Gods and Staterans, second, there is an asymmetry between the factions. Some rules and patterns apply to the whole game, some only for Gods or Staterans, and some rules are specific to the faction.

The game is story-based. Each story tells a tale from the land of Statera and through that, it defines a number of players, unique victory conditions, setup, and some small rule adjustments. It basically means that each story, when played, feels like a different game.

Statera nations - Chompas and Fauns move, build and fight all over the Statera. They believe in their Gods and fight fearlessly for their faith. They activate action cards to create a set of actions and move their meeples around the game map. The asymmetry comes in the action and battle cards where Chompas are more fight-oriented and Fauns are more faith-oriented. Faith is everything in the end and most Stories are about it.

You can also choose between two Gods! Three mighty Dragons or mischievous Ferun are factions of Statera which give even experienced players a decent challenge. The god must rely - well, on believers. At the beginning of Statera, the Gods created the land, the sky, and even the Staterans. But there was a struggle between the Gods and they needed to resolve the differences. So they build the Scales in the Centrepoint of Statera to measure who is mightier. They do so by putting the gathered souls into the bowls. If a God has no believers, he has no power, so they send their legates to the lands of Statera, build temples, and upgrade their powers. Everything to get believers into their sanctuary. Each faction is different with a different setup of mechanics and a wide range of possibilities and it is up to the player to use it well.

There are more things that make Statera an awesome game...like a modular game map or unique fights. We talk about all of that in our regular Thursday live streams so if you want to know more, join us there or just read the rules and jump into the Table Top Simulator and see for yourself.
